Agreement and eligibility
By downloading, installing, or using Livefeed, you agree to these terms. If you use Livefeed for an organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these terms for that organization.
You must be at least 13 years old and legally permitted to use Google, YouTube, Twitch, and Cloudflare services in your location. If applicable law requires a higher minimum age, that higher age applies.
The service
Livefeed is an open-source, read-only terminal client that discovers an active YouTube or Twitch stream associated with your authorized account and displays its live chat. The hosted authentication service keeps provider client secrets out of the distributed CLI.
Livefeed does not broadcast video, manage stream settings, send chat messages, guarantee chat history, or provide moderation tools. Features may change as provider APIs and the open-source project evolve.
The current public version is provided without charge. There are no subscriptions, automatic renewals, paid plans, or refunds.
Accounts and security
Livefeed does not create a separate Livefeed account. You authenticate using your own Google or Twitch account. You are responsible for:
- keeping your device and provider accounts secure;
- reviewing the scopes shown during provider authorization;
- using Livefeed only with accounts you are authorized to access; and
- revoking access promptly if a device or credential may be compromised.
Run livefeed yt logout or livefeed twitch logout to revoke and remove the corresponding local credential.
Acceptable use
You may not use Livefeed or its authentication service to:
- access an account, stream, or chat without authorization;
- violate law, provider terms, privacy rights, or intellectual-property rights;
- bypass rate limits or probe, overload, disrupt, or degrade the hosted service;
- extract, disclose, or misuse another person’s credentials or private information;
- impersonate the project or misrepresent an unofficial build as an official release;
- introduce malicious code or use automated traffic that materially harms the service; or
- use the OAuth broker as authentication infrastructure for another product.
These restrictions do not limit rights granted by the project’s open-source license or applicable law, including legitimate security research conducted responsibly.
Content and ownership
You retain your rights in your account information and content. Livefeed claims no ownership of chat messages or provider data. The CLI temporarily processes that content only to display it on your device.
Livefeed’s source code is licensed under the MIT License. The license governs your rights to use, copy, modify, and distribute the software. These terms do not grant rights to third-party names, logos, APIs, or content.
Third-party services
Livefeed depends on Google, YouTube, Twitch, Cloudflare, your operating system’s credential manager, npm, and Bun. Your use of those services remains subject to their own terms and policies.
Use of Livefeed’s YouTube functionality is also subject to theYouTube Terms of Service and theYouTube API Services Terms of Service.
Provider outages, API changes, revoked credentials, disabled live chat, quota restrictions, or changes to third-party terms may interrupt or permanently alter Livefeed. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their acts or omissions.
Availability and support
Livefeed is provided as an open-source project without a service-level agreement. The CLI, website, and authentication service may be unavailable, rate limited, modified, or discontinued at any time.
Community support and issue reporting are available through the public GitHub repository. No response time or resolution is guaranteed.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Livefeed is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory.We do not warrant that Livefeed will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, compatible with every terminal, or able to retrieve every stream or message.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Livefeed project and its maintainers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, revenue, profits, goodwill, or business interruption arising from use of the service.
Where liability cannot legally be excluded, aggregate liability will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for Livefeed in the twelve months before the claim or USD 10. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so these provisions may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
Suspension and termination
You may stop using Livefeed at any time and revoke provider access. We may block or limit access to the hosted authentication service when reasonably necessary to address abuse, security risk, legal requirements, or violations of these terms.
Provisions concerning ownership, third-party services, disclaimers, liability, and any terms that by their nature should survive will remain effective after use ends.
Changes, applicable law, and contact
We may update these terms as Livefeed changes. The effective date will be revised and material changes will be documented in the repository. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms where permitted by law.
Applicable law and courts with jurisdiction govern these terms without overriding mandatory consumer protections available to you. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
